Arthur Douglas Jr. is the firstborn son of Mr. Arthur Douglas, Sr. and Mrs. Chester Lee Douglas. He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior August 18, 1967 (Friday night before 3rd Sunday) and was baptized August 20, 1967 (3rd Sunday) at the Saint Savior Baptist Church, Rev. G. W. Holmes, Pastor.
He attended schools in Caddo Parish: Mooretown Elementary, Bethune Jr. & Sr. High and is a graduate of Southwood High School (May 1977). In high school he was very athletic…participating in basketball and track. He attended Northwestern State University Natchitoches, LA, Shreveport Bible College Management Training School in Clearfield, UT and St. Stephens Educational Bible College in Los Angeles, CA.
Pastor Douglas is the oldest of two siblings: Diane Douglas Taylor (sister) and Terry Douglas (brother) also baptized at Saint Savior B. C. and graduates of Southwood High School.
July 20, 1980 (3rd Sunday) he confessed his divine calling to the gospel ministry and preached his first sermon (Wednesday night) July 30, 1980 (Acts 3:6 Such as I Have Licensed).
On Saturday, February 21, 1981 at the Saint Savior Baptist Church he united in Holy Matrimony to Sheila Lenise Johnson. Sheila also accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized August 15, 1971 (3rd Sunday) at Saint Savior Baptist Church. Sheila graduated from Southwood High School in 1979 and went on to attend Southern University Shreveport.
Pastor Arthur Douglas, Jr. was ordained Saturday November 20, 1982 at Saint Savior BC under the leadership of Rev. Joseph King Pastor. Pastorate: Original Golden Hill B. C. Hallsville, TX (1982-84) Morning Star Gloster (1984-1995) New Canaan Houston, TX (1995-1999) Saint. Peter (1999-2015) Presently Evergreen Baptist Church April 12, 2015!
He is the proud father of two sons, Arthur Douglas, III "Trey" a 2003 graduate of Southwood, 2008 graduate of Arkansas Tech University on a 5-year football scholarship and Rickey Jamaal Douglas, former saxophonist in the Huntington High School Marching Band…a 2008 graduate and UTI Houston, TX (2009). Both were dedicated to Christ and baptized by their father at Morning Star in Gloster. Pastor Douglas is the proud grandfather of Arthur Douglas, IV, baptized by his grandfather at the age of five, Aiden Christopher Thomas, Rickey Jamaal Douglas, Jr. and Renee Lenise Douglas. He is the proud godfather of Celcey Bridget Carpenter who was also dedicated to Christ and baptized by her godfather.
As followers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we know that "all good and perfect gifts come from God." On April 12, 2015 the Evergreen Baptist Church became recipients of a good and perfect gift (His Righteousness), in the person of Pastor Arthur Douglas Jr., and Family. On that faithful day he proclaimed the Gospel from Psalm 134 "Come Out, With Your Hands Up! Since that day, he has continued to pray, teach and preach the infallible word of God to this congregation and maintain a full slate of Evangelistic Outreach Engagements across multiple states as far as the Pacific Northwest.
While leading our church in a most godly, meaningful and exciting way, both officers and members have responded with support and encouraging words to all of our ministries. With our growth, new ministries and recognition programs have been instituted or expanded as follows:
Beginning his Pastoral Responsibilities with an inherited indebtedness of more than Ninety-Seven Thousand Dollars ($97,000.00+), his godly visionary leadership enabled liquidation of the indebtedness in November 2016. As a result of God's Blessings by being on "One Accord" Evergreen purchased the Allen Avenue Property without incurring the indebtedness of Fifty-Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) all to the glory of God.
